No Lay Ups

August 18, 2010

In February, we launched the World’s Best Golf Sock.  “A bit aggressive,” some said. “Prove it,” others said. Well, in my opinion, it’s proving itself one awesome review at a time and we’re not taking any lay ups in the process.

Bubba Watson’s performance in the PGA Championship was an incredible example of playing to win. His number one goal all along, the Travelers Championship winner landed number three points ranking for the U.S. Ryder Cup team after losing the PGA Championship playoff to Kaymer .

From a tough lie on the third hole of the playoff, Bubba went for it. But he found the water at 18 and the result was a double bogey 6, leaving Kaymer the winner. Bubba could’ve played for a bogey or a par, but he didn’t. He went for the win. Is it any wonder fans love him? Or that he rocked our new pink socks?

Before the tournament, I had the opportunity to show Bubba and Rickie Fowler and their families the manufacturing process at our plant in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. (Maybe you saw the photos Bubba posted on Facebook? ) There we presented him with our first pair of pink socks, made to compliment his famous pink club shaft. (And to support breast cancer awareness, a campaign we’ll talk more about later. )

Yes, in sock choice and in competition the lesson from Mr. Watson and KENTWOOL: no lay ups.

Rock the socks,
Mark B. Kent

P.S. Sooner than expected, we’ll have a men’s low profile style available October 1. Watch our website, Twitter and Facebook for the latest sock developments.
