Strategic Initiatives
In January, I told you that KENTWOOL was "focused on non-stop innovation strategies as we move ahead into 2009"... I wasn't kidding! More than ever in the midst of this challenging economy, we’re proactively "sharpening our edges” – and developing creative strategies designed to make us more and more competitive in the future.
And, environmentally friendly "sustainability initiatives” are definitely part of the mix.
We just released an article this week that describes one of the most exciting and unusual projects we’ve ever undertaken: The installation of a solar electric system at our manufacturing complex – that’s already off-setting all of the power requirements needed to run our corporate office functions.
Our hope is to expand that system so that a major chunk of our manufacturing power requirements can ultimately be achieved through solar power. Not only does it feel right to do this as a good corporate citizen – and a "citizen of the world” – It’s truly good business and a smart investment. What excites me as much as the above story, is how many other cool initiatives we’ve got going on simultaneously.
The market response to our newly launched product brand, WINDspun, has been terrific. In fact, the interest level generated by that new product at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City late last month was beyond encouraging. Expect to hear a lot more about what we’ll be doing with regard to WINDspun in 2009…Lots of doors are opening up, and you’ll be seeing new dimensions of KENTWOOL that might surprise you!
